I’ve been doing some reading because i love to read. Recently I read the first two books in a series by Sharon Garlough Brown. Sensible Shoes and Two Steps Forward are the titles. They come with group study materials and we are doing those as a staff. Really Good Stuff #rgs 🙂
So we are now faced with writing our own “spiritual formation” story and I think I often do some of that here. In my thinking/praying/reading/pre-writing, I came across this from John Piper: http://www.desiringgod.org/messages/the-painful-discipline-of-our-heavenly-father It’s an excellent message regarding the balance we need between WRESTLING and RESTING with God and our lives and our actions and our attitudes.
I also read this about that subject in Streams in the Desert:
Don’t wrestle; nestle.
So, those are my ponderous musings this morning. God’s goodness abounds. His grace still amazes me. And my experience has been that truly, really, “better is one day in His courts than thousands spent anywhere else.” (Psalm 84:10)
